"Fuel: The Energy You Need to Succeed" by Wes Beavis is the book I'm reading now, and I'm just about half way done. It's been awhile since I had been this on track with my reading, and boy it sure made a difference.
In the intro of the book, the author mentioned the 7 R's. They are simply 7 words that begin with the letter R: Recommitment, Reading, Resources, Realizations, Relationships, Results, Rest. These are the 7 factors that can help us in our journey to our goals.
~ "For everyday the mental fuel that keeps us moving forward is being constantly depleted as we push through the challenging forces standing between us and our goals. - Wes Beavis" ~
If we really pay attention in our day to day life, we all have a mental checklist of tasks that need to be done. And it's rare that we completed 100% of that checklist, at least for me. While reading the book I realize that it's because we run low on these "mental fuel" throughout the day! We either get distracted or get discouraged, and always leave out a few items untouched.
Now if we look at the big pictures of life, where instead of 24 hrs, we need 24 days, or weeks, or months, or even years, to achieve our goals. If we can't even last for a day, how will we be able to endure the weeks, the months, and the years!
That's why it's so important that we refuel ourselves constantly, and it takes daily recommitment to our dreams and goals. It's vital that we remind ourselves daily why we do what we do, and what we want to achieve. And reading is an important aspect of refueling ourselves mentally. Having the resources and realizing what it takes, and having those relationship with whom that can help us, is the key to having the results we desire. And always rest to prevent burnout, and to reward ourselves for the smaller accomplishment of stepping stones that ultimately leads us to achieve our dreams and goals.
